i had problem with my SS activation myself too before.
ok, hope our problem is the same and this will help you.
1st - put the claim code and itk code s as instructed.
2nd - wait for customer love to verify that your blog is claimed.
3rd - once the 1st and 2nd icon are marked green, click on the verification button to let customer love crawl to your blog and verified it.
That's all!
if all done accordingly, the verification should take in less than a day. Just like mine!

go to your dashboard...then click Layout -> Edit HTML.
Paste the code between the < body > and < / body > tag
hope you got your blog verify..if still can't write to them.mine ok already-seems that it was their mistakes..
